The new community dubbed "Little Haiti" on Canon del Alacran (Scorpion Canyon). A church in the middle of the canyon has been turned in to a dormitory for the Haitian and African refugees. Some have started to build housing in the canyon, which may have been a tire dump previously. The stream running down the middle of the canyon reeks of pollution.
