The parks will offer classes in dance, the aerosol arts, basketball and soccer along with other educational and artistic activities. .USC Coach Pete Carroll, KCBS Sports Anchor Jim Hill, LAPD Chief Chief Bratton along with 3 LA City Councilmen helped launch the program at Glassell Park.

Jamiel was a star football player at Los Angeles H.S. Jamiel also planted the tree along with LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa one year prior to his killing. Jamiel's mother Anita Shaw is a Sergeant in the Army serving in Iraq. She was denied a furlough from service by the Army, and will be sent back to the middle east early this week to finish out her service. The 18th street gangmember is being held in a LA  jail and is in the country illegally.

The Mayor had an extramarital affair with a local TV reporter, Mirthala Salinas, who ironically broke the story on her stations channel, Telemundo 52. She has been put on indefinite leave by Telemundo and the Mayor's wife, Corina, has filed for divorce..Salinas has also had affairs with two other LA politicians who are also close friends of the mayor..The mayor's last name Villaraigosa,  is a mix of his (Villar) and his wife's (Raigosa) last names..The mayor is at a press conference announcing his plans to fill thousand of pot holes in LA's streets.
